General Job Description:
Selected team member will be responsible for assisting in the log yard with multiple manual labor duties.
Primary duties include but not limited to the following:
Accurately measuring and bucking logs.
Placement, maintenance and removal of sprinklers and waterlines on log decks.
Operating pump stations and monitoring water movement for the sprinkler system, storage ponds and
constructed wetlands.
Operating Equipment such as water truck, dump truck, and skid steer.
Maintaining small gas-powered equipment.
Keep all work areas and designated shop area clean and orderly at all times.
Grass and vegetation maintenance around log yard and mill site.
Operation of the truck scales and performing weighmaster duties as needed.
Assisting log tapers and scalers in scale yard with measuring and log marking.
General site maintenance including clean up projects, wetlands maintenance, and special projects.
Other duties as assigned.
Experience/Training Required:
Team member should have the knowledge and ability to perform the above log yard-related tasks.
Job Qualifications and Requirements:
Must be proficient with a chainsaw.
Mechanical knowledge and ability. Ability to problem solve.
Willingness and ability to adapt to new procedures.
Must be able to drive a Manual Transmission vehicle.
Must exhibit strong communication skills. Must communicate daily with supervisor, other log yard
employees and mechanics.
Work safely, be aware and alert at all times.
Ability to kneel, bend, stoop, climb, twist, crouch, reach.
Full range of motion of limbs and neck. Must be able to lift, push & pull 50-100 lbs.
Ability to walk long distances, on uneven surfaces.
Possess basic computer skills.
Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
Work safely and follow proper procedures.
Must work well independently and as a team.
Positive can-do attitude and a willingness to learn.
Must be able and willing to work outside in inclement weather.
Must be willing to work overtime, weekends and holidays when necessary.
Team member will work in a safe and cooperative manner with all team members to meet safety,
efficiency and quality goals.
